I got a not working Devolo MicroLink dLan (it is a Powerline device) back from a friend, where i have installed it for a few years.
It was one of the units with a 10Mb network connector.
The problem was, that it was not reachable anymore, even the supplied config program could not find it.
After a closer inspection i found a visible bulging 4700uF 10v (12,5x 25mm) cap as bypass capacitor in the linear PSU circuit.
I replaced it with an 2200uF 16v Pansonic FM, as it was the closest match in size and value i had laying around.
I tested it twice with only the 2200uF cap and with an additionally attached 2200uF UCC LXF without any difference.
So i decided, that the 4700uF are not required and probably only to have plenty of reserve.
